Some of the first larger group parties we hosted in our twenties were wedding showers, sip & sees and baby showers! We always served a brunch menu. There is a sort of formula to hosting these events that we learned from our Southern mothers, grandmothers and their hosting-expert friends. We love being able to share some of these special recipes and traditions with all of you here.  A fancy chicken salad, ham served on southern-style biscuits, salad with fruit, a perfectly Southern quiche, and a rich butter pound cake - these are some of the items that we have not only served again and again, but recipes that were served at our own showers, and recipes that we always serve when hosting a brunch get together or party.  We hope you enjoy this menu or just try each of the recipes on their own! Wether hosting a post church gatherings, Mother’s Day, houseguests or a shower for a loved one, this is the perfect brunch menu!

Brunch Hosting Tips:

In addition to a light and refreshing punch, set out a large beverage tub with bottles of rosé, pellegrino, and pitchers of ice tea and water garnished with fresh citrus or mint.

This chicken salad is beautiful served in bib lettuce leaves, but also wonderful served on party rolls or croissants.  Use rotisserie chicken to make prep easier - we love making a batch of this to have in the fridge for lunches all week.

These ham and cheese biscuits are also amazing served with some scrambled eggs inside for a version of a ham egg and cheese biscuit.

If you are hosting a baby shower, serve your pound cake with strawberry sauce if you are celebrating a baby girl, or a blueberry sauce if celebrating a boy.

We suggest setting a buffet. Make sure you use platters and bowls of varying heights to create some dimension on the table.

Roll napkins with cutlery inside to make for easy pick up when setting up your buffet.

Brunch Shopping List & Prep Timeline

While derived from the French, quiche has taken over as the perfect dish to serve for so many occasions. Have houseguests? Make a quiche in advance to serve for breakfast. Hosting a bridal shower, baby shower, sip & see, day after wedding brunch - serve a quiche. Have a friend who just had a baby or someone in need of a meal- bring them a quiche. Quiche was also on my mother’s rotation as her idea of breakfast for dinner. When venturing out on my own, my mother gave me a few hand written recipes cards with some basics that she felt would serve me well in the “real world” and one of those was her formula for the perfect quiche. This Pimento Cheese quiche is my perfect quiche - not only does it use my mother’s “formula” (which I have also included below) but it features one of my favorite flavor profiles (pimento cheese) and a special cheese layer that mimics one of the best quiches I have ever had from Jane bakery in San Francisco. Enjoy!
